Initial Analysis

We customize MeRT for each patient based on the results of the Initial Analysis. We use precise diagnostic testing to tailor treatment to each individual based on their specific brain frequency.

Our Initial Analysis Starts with a quantitative EEG (brain scan)

Our first step is to analyze each patient’s specific brain function before determining if one may benefit from MeRT and to plan your individualized treatment protocol.

What Is a Quantitative EEG and How Is It Used in MeRT? A quantitative EEG (qEEG) is a non-invasive brain mapping tool that measures and analyzes the brain’s electrical activity. While a standard EEG records brainwave patterns, a qEEG takes it a step further by using advanced algorithms to transform that data into visual maps and statistical reports that highlight patterns of brain function or dysfunction.

Brainwaves—such as delta, theta, alpha, beta, and gamma—represent different states of consciousness and cognitive activity. A qEEG identifies abnormalities or imbalances in these brainwave patterns, which may be linked to conditions such as depression, PTSD, traumatic brain injury, anxiety, or autism.

Our medical and scientific team analyzes any areas of the brain that aren’t functioning normally. We use this report to generate a precise, tailored treatment protocol for your specific condition.

How a qEEG Works

A quantitative EEG, often referred to as a brain map, is a safe, painless, and non-invasive way to measure brain activity. During this procedure, a trained technician fits a soft, rubberized cap onto the patient’s head. Small sensors embedded in the cap pick up electrical signals naturally produced by the brain—without introducing any current, radiation, or discomfort.

Unlike imaging tests like MRIs or CT scans, a qEEG doesn’t emit anything into the body. It simply records and analyzes the brain’s own electrical activity, offering a clear view of how different areas are functioning. This allows us to detect regions that may be out of sync or not operating efficiently in comparison to the rest of the brain.

Because brainwave patterns are unique to each individual—much like a fingerprint—every qEEG reveals distinct and personal insights. It helps us identify irregular rhythms linked to conditions such as depression, anxiety, or neurodevelopmental disorders. With this information, we can precisely customize treatment using TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) to target the areas that need support, helping improve brain function and overall well-being.

This precision targeting of treatment after initial patient analysis is why the MeRT protocol is highly effective.

Consultation to Discuss the qEEG Results

Once your test results are in, our team will thoroughly evaluate them to design a treatment plan tailored specifically to your brain’s needs. You’ll then meet one-on-one with Dr. Miller, who will walk you through the findings and outline your personalized care strategy.

During this consultation, Dr. Miller will take the time to answer any remaining questions and give you a clear understanding of what to expect throughout your treatment journey.

The initial qEEG serves as your neurological baseline, and we use it to monitor how your brain responds to therapy. To ensure consistent progress, Dr. Miller performs a follow-up qEEG approximately every 10 treatment days, allowing us to fine-tune your care as needed and keep you moving toward your optimal outcome.

MeRT Treatment Protocols

In MeRT (Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy), the qEEG is essential for customizing treatment. It allows our doctos to pinpoint areas of the brain that are underactive, overactive, or poorly synchronized. These insights guide the development of a highly personalized treatment protocol. By applying gentle magnetic stimulation (rTMS) to specific brain regions, MeRT aims to restore healthy brain communication and improve overall function.

In essence, the qEEG acts as a brain “fingerprint,” giving the clinical team a detailed, real-time look at how the brain is operating—and where it may need help. This precise targeting is what makes MeRT so effective for many neurological and cognitive conditions.

Every single qEEG is unique. Brain activity for each person is as unique to them as their fingerprint. With a qEEG, we can clearly see rhythm variations that correspond to non-optimal neurological conditions. We can then tailor our treatment approach using TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) to achieve the best possible outcomes.

This precise targeting of treatment after initial patient analysis is why the MeRT protocol is so revolutionary.
